Local Attractions

Peak District dog friendly cottages Situated just two miles from Bakewell we are ideally located for Chatsworth House (the hunting tower can be seen from our back fields) and historic Haddon Hall. Other historic houses such as Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle are in easy reach. The stepping stones at Dove Dale or cycling on the Monsal trail are less than 15 mins away (bicycles can be stored in our sheds). For climbers Stanage Edge is nearby and Baslow Edge can be seen from our fields. For children there is Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham (with its cable car) at Matlock (10 miles away) or further afield Alton Towers (40 mins).

Dog Friendly Accommodation

Pet friendly accommodation We pride ourselves on providing dog friendly accommodation. With our 20 acres of fields, a specially set aside paddock area and our own two Border Collies, we are an ideal location for a self catering cottage holiday with your dog. Although there are ample walks from our cottage doors, it is only a short distance to the magnificent walks at Chatsworth House (dogs are allowed in the gardens), Lathkill Dale, the 'trails', the nearby 'Edges' or across the moors. There are suitable walks for dogs of all agilities. In general the pubs in the area welcome dogs in the bar area and we find most attractions accommodate dogs as best they can (we can advise on most attractions from personal experience). Although we do have some rules we do try to keep them to a minimum. For details please see our terms and conditions. Please also see our Dogs Welcome page and of course our dogs own blog at The dogs blog

Peak District Photography

Peak district photographyAs we are located in the photogenic Peak District just outside one of the most photographed towns in the area (Bakewell) we are well placed to accommodate the budding amateur photographer. From our cottages there are spectacular views towards one of the best photographic opportunities (both landscape and natural history) in the Peak District - Lathkill Dale. We therefore attract many amateur photographers. As Chris is a keen amateur photographer, he is always on hand to assist in finding the perfect location or providing technical advise regarding Lightroom and Photoshop etc. To see some of Chris's pictures see photograph gallery
