The large indoor games area is ideal for those rainy days or long evenings in winter:
Always popular all year round our sauna lets you relax and unwind after a day out in the Dales or after an exhausting day visiting the tea shops in Bakewell.
The courtyard is a sheltered sun trap at most times of the year and can be used for guest relaxation, alfresco meals or meeting with other guests.
To ensure the tranquillity of the courtyard we ask that cars be parked in the car park (except for loading and unloading) and that activities such as ball games etc are undertaken in the fields or the guest lawn area.
Each cottage is provided with an outside seating area consisting of either a picnic table style bench or table and seats. Additional seating can be provided if required Note: Lathkill, Bluebell and Magpie seating areas overlook the guest gardens rather than the courtyard.
In all we have over 20 acres of grounds which include 3 large fields, a paddock area (for dogs), guests lawns, wooded areas etc.
We are fortunate to be set in (over) 200-300 acres of pastureland with a footpath only 100 metres away.
The large guest lawn is enclosed by wooded areas and stone walls with gates out into the fields. It is a safe area for children to play and parents to soak up the sun or just watch the children play.
The main road (to Bakewell (two Miles) or Monyash (two miles) is about 200 metres away from the cottages so children and pets are safe and the noise from the road is negligible.
The lawn area usually has a football practice net and of course there are fields to explore.
Our wireless LAN is accessible from within all of our cottages and most locations around the site. There is also a direct Internet connection available in each cottage. (Please see our conditions of use for further information)
(*Note - it may not be possible to send e-mails if you use anything other than a 'web-mail' account i.e. Outlook may not work. Please check with your ISP.)
In general phone coverage is not ideal in our area.
Orange seem to provide the best coverage although we find Vodafone and Virgin to be acceptable. Due to the thick walls of some of our cottages it is not always possible to receive a signal inside but a signal from most providers is possible outside. Mobile Data coverage is very poor with most suppliers providing only 2G services. To check coverage for your supplier please try http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/ and enter our post code DE45 1QW where required
There is a washing machine (free of charge) and tumble dryer (coin operated) available for guest use in the laundry area.
An iron and ironing board is also available.
There is a freezer available for guests who need more storage space than is available in the cottage fridges
We have various options for drying clothing etc.
There are 'over the bath' drying cords in each of the cottages for small items. In addition there are a number of 'airers' that can be borrowed from the laundry area for use in cottages. Next to the laundry is a large drying area with dehumidifier which can be used either for drying washing or drying out wet outdoor gear etc.
For summer and brighter days there is an outside rotary dryer which nicely captures the westerly breeze
There is ample off road car parking spaces, adjacent to the main courtyard, for all guests and visitors.
Although we allow cars into the courtyard to load and unload we try and keep it as car free as possible. We do, however, make exceptions for guests with mobility issues or in exceptional weather conditions.
