Relax in the heart of the Peak District
Castleton is located just 30minutes away to the north of our peak District Cottages.
Castleton is located in the Hope valley at the start of the Dark Peaks and is one of the most popular centres in the Peak District due to its picturesque scenery, a ruined castle, caves, good walks and and the village itself. Unfortunately this makes it very busy in the summer months.
In addition to the spectacular walks to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass, Lose Hill and Cave Dale there is the Norman Castle (Pevril) and the four caves open to the public (Peak Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern, Speedwell Cavern and Blue John Cavern). Each of the caves has a different characteristic - in speedwell you are 'taken to the main cavern by boat'.
At Christmas lights are installed and the village comes alive again after a post summer rush.
